My students need hands-on experience learning about the brain. Students will be able to work with a partner to dissect a sheep brain, which is similar in structure to a human brain.

My Students
The students in my Advanced Placement Psychology class are very diverse. Some of them have taken many advanced classes and some of them are brand new to this challenge. They each bring something special and unique to the classroom. Regardless of their background, I want to give them an opportunity to learn hands-on.
Many of my students are interested in pursuing social sciences in the future and being able to see them connect psychology to their lives and surroundings is such a wonderful experience!
My Project
My students will be able to learn about the brain in a hands-on lesson. They will get to put themselves in the place of a scientist, doctor, researcher, etc. and make the learning come to life. Many of them want to pursue fields related to anatomy and biology; this will give them an opportunity to explore their future interests.
By providing them with a real brain to dissect, label, and discuss, my students will be able to apply all of their learning throughout the unit.
It is not enough to just look at diagrams of the brain, I want them to be able to see it, cut it, and explore it.
