Our school serves nearly 600 students. About 48% are Caucasian, 30% African American, 13% Hispanic, 2% Asian, & 7% other. Sixty-one percent of our students are free-and-reduced household income qualifiers. A full 11% of our population is made up of English language learners and 13% are Special Education learners. This data is a snapshot from Oct. 1, 2016.
My students are very representative of these demographics.
I have 24 students. Thirteen are girls and eleven are boys. About 65% of my students are of a minority race and come from low socioeconomic status.
My Project
I am in need of a game and a puzzle for my students for next year. To keep mornings engaging and fun, my students work in Morning Tubs, and one of those is a puzzle tub/basket. I rotate through the puzzles every couple of weeks, so I'm slowly adding to my puzzle stock. I need more floor puzzles.
The pocket chart and magnetic hooks are for our vocabulary and high frequency word cards.
They came with our new reading program this year and are GREAT! I have a pocket chart that I'm currently using, but I'm looking for a more narrow one that takes up less white board space and that also can be moved with the ease of the hook magnets!
