Students in my school come from various backgrounds. We have a high ENL population where students are learning languages such as Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese), Spanish, Urdu, and more. I love teaching lessons that are engaging and motivational. To do this, I take students' interests into account, including the use of visuals, color, technology, hands-on experiences, field trips, etc.
My school is located in the heart of Flushing, NY.
We embrace diversity and are inclusive to all. Many of my students come from low-income homes and are grateful and easily excited by things that some of us take for granted. I am grateful for them and their willingness to learn from me in our learning environment that we build together.
My Project
My project is full of a variety of iron on vinyl material (ie: different colors, glitter/non-glitter) to go along with our newly obtained Cricut machine. We are having so much fun using these materials for decorating and crafting and are loving exploring with designing and measurements to accurately design our crafts. We are slowly learning how to use the awesome device but are learning that the material is quite expensive. This project would help us to be able to go ahead and start crafting. With anything new comes mistakes and having extra material to learn with is crucial in this learning stage. The ideas are pouring in with activities and materials to create, so having these materials is crucial for us to get started with out awesome crafting. With that is a mat that lights up that will help us easily weed out excess materials after the cuts have been made. We are so excited to get started!
