Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from low-income, inner-city and often troubled family backgrounds. Many of them are put in the unfortunate situation of being forced to juggle difficult family life, while also trying to further their education. Despite all of these struggles, they remain driven, focused, and extremely passionate about their schooling.
Students at our school embody our three mottos: "We Are Family", "We Are Agents of Change", and "We Are STEM Thinkers".
My students are intelligent, kind, compassionate, and extremely driven.
My Project
I'm an 8th grade English teacher in South Central Los Angeles. Our school is STEM focussed but, unfortunately, we do not have the budget for new and desperately needed Chromebooks for our class. Our school serves high-risk students who have an incredible amount of drive and passion for learning, and Chromebooks would help us prepare them so they can be competitive in today's high tech world.
Chromebooks are expensive, and although our class needs 20 in total, we would be grateful for even just these five to enhance our learning capabilities and increase the opportunities we can offer to our amazing students.
