This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Do you think worksheets are fun? Neither do my students! We are always looking for new ways to make learning fun so that our scholars are excited about school.

Our scholars attend a PreK - 8th grade high poverty school in an urban area of North Carolina.

We have a large population of students with disabilities along with English Language Learners. Nearly all of our students are living in poverty, and they face many obstacles in their lives. Even so, they come to school each day ready to learn. At the beginning of this school year, approximately 50% of our students were reading below grade level. Our teachers and students are working hard to drastically change that statistic.

My Project

The dry erase pockets that we are requesting will allow us to put learning activities in the pockets and allow our scholars to use whiteboard markers. This small change will increase the excitement that our students have about their work! It will also help us save paper. We are working very hard to teach our students to mark the text that they are reading, but we also have a copy limit to abide by. This pockets will allow our students to mark their text and increase their comprehension while allowing us to reduce the amount of copies we make.

This project is important because we want to provide our students with the best education possible.

Every teacher move we make to increase engagement makes our students more excited about school. We need our students to be excited about school, because we have a lot of growth to make!
