Today's teenagers are bombarded with 3D films, graphically sophisticated video games, and high quality surround sound in all of their audio/video experiences.
My students are thoughtful, hard working, and intellectually curious.
The students at my school are ethnically and economically diverse. The school community is supportive, but we have faced many financial challenges over the last 5 years of state budget cuts and have all had to work together to creatively meet the needs of students.
My Project
This project request is based on the desire to effectively meet students' educational needs. Technology is rapidly evolving and having updated equipment is an essential part of effective teaching in the 21st century. I want to be able to capture the students' interest and attention when using direct instruction and want the students to have reliable equipment when they are making presentations.
In order to do this, I need speakers and a modern digital projector with audio output and multiple input connectors (like the Epson Powerlite) and with an extremely dark display because my room does not have curtains to sufficiently darken the room. I will soon be demonstrating the concept of perception for my Psychology students and want them to see examples that demonstrate those concepts. I will also soon be giving an overview of of current events in Civics and want to broadcast some news highlights so students can connect with the various events.
Donations to this project will enable me to purchase equipment which the school district can not provide at this time.
The school is still struggling to maintain adequate staffing and student services, and this modern technology has unfortunately not been prioritized.
