This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

North Side High School is an intercity school with strong traditions and long ties to the community of Northside. The weight room has seen better days with most of the equipment baught in the early 80's. A lot of equipment is not longer working or missing.

We would like to update the weight room with some better up-to-date equipment so more of our athletes can use it.

The new equipment will allow more students to use the room, not just the big guys. We will be looking for smaller weights so more girls will access to the training equipment.

My Project

The weight room needs to be used by more than just the football players. We need lower end weights to train the smaller athletes. We want to build it out so that athletes under 150 lbs can train in there comfortably and safely. Our current setup has plenty of weights that are above 25 lbs in both dumbbells and plates but is lacking in in weights under 25 lbs. We want to get dumbbells that are under 25 lbs and 10lb bumper plate will allow us to do this. This new equipment of weights that are under 25 pounds will help make our equipment up to date and make the weight room a more inclusive and safer place place to train the athletes.
