Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"My spelling is Wobbly. It's good spelling but it Wobbles, and the letters get in the wrong places," said Pooh Bear. I love Pooh Bear but I don't want my students to have letters in the "wrong places". I want my students spelling, reading and feeling confident in their ability to learn.
We are a Title I school in a low socioeconomic area.
My students are hard working, enthusiastic and eager to learn. If given more tools, they can continue to soar and achieve more success. They thrive on new ways to learn. I have 2nd and 3rd graders who are all FBB [Far Below Basic] or BB [Below Basic]in language arts. Our school and staff are wonderful but due to budget cuts we are unable to provide more technology for our well deserving students.
My Project
With the Samsung Galaxy Tablet, my students will be able to improve their ELD levels by viewing vivid, colorful visuals for the vocabulary that they are exposed to in their reading series. They will be able to use the tablet for educational games and programs. The tablet gives them an opportunity to have fun and enjoy learning, as it should be for our children.
The tablet offers me a better, more concise tool to assess my students with DIBELS. The ability to show parents their child's assessment data during parent conferences with this tablet will be priceless.
The benefits of having a Samsung tablet are endless.
My students will have access to a wonderful learning tool that can be used individually or in a small group by placing it on the dock. The tablet will also assist me by placing student data right at my fingertips. My project will be a gift of learning for a wonderful group of students and a blessing during assessments for me.
