This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have the pleasure of teaching 24 super smart first graders. Unfortunately, my students come from a high-poverty, low socioeconomic community. Ninety-nine percent of my students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. Despite these circumstances, my children are full of spirit and have positive attitudes about learning. They absolutely love coming to school.
These first graders come in each morning with hugs and big smiles on their faces.
They are eager to learn and love for me to teach them new things. I want to make their learning experiences as meaningful and fun as possible.
My Project
We have awesome computer programs available that reinforce reading, grammar, writing, math, science, and social studies; however my first graders cannot finish their lessons because our computers are old and slow.
Most of my students do not have computers at home, so when they get to school, they are so excited to get to use our classroom computers.
Unfortunately, our classroom computers are outdated and very slow. The students use most of their computer time trying to stay online and complete their assignments. They get very frustrated and some students do not even want their computer time. We also need ink to print out student work and certificates.
We are asking for an all-in-one desktop computer. We were fortunate enough to have one donated this month, but if we had another one, it would be great. Please consider a donation to our project.
