Updating a Reading Center
My students need a book display easel to make big books easier to read as they can be difficult for young students to handle. They also need cushions and comfy chairs for an inviting center.
My 24 kindergarten students come from various backgrounds with most receiving free or reduced breakfast and lunch. My classroom is composed of African American, Caucasian, Hispanic, and Asian students. However, they all love school and are eager to learn!
The students are fortunate to have a school that believes in their abilities regardless of background.
I believe they are all capable of success and I want to provide the best kindergarten experience possible for my students. My goal is to continue to build excitement about school and foster that love of learning through our big book reading center.
My young students love big books but they are somewhat cumbersome and difficult to handle. A big book display easel will make big books easier for the students to read. The easel will help entice the students to visit this center more frequently. I would also love to make the reading center more practical, appealing, and comfy. Adding the cushions and rockers will ensure the students stay engaged in the learning.
The reading center will become one of their favorite places in the classroom with the addition of the easel, reading pillows, and soft seat cushions.
I can't wait to see their enthusiasm for the new improved center.
