Students at my school are explorers, interested in technology, and want to have a chance to use technology in an educational way! We have a diverse population, and include low income (61% are economically disadvantaged) and English language learners (27% have limited English proficiency). Books are so important to my students and are truly valued. We are a Title 1 School and many students do not have access to technology at home and rely on our classrooms to teach them how to utilize the technology they will encounter in the world. Each day, we can incorporate new programs to engage and educate. Many of our students were affected by Hurricane Harvey through their homes flooding or long-term evacuation. The impact has been devastating, and we are ready to get back on our feet.
My Project
My students love learning and reading! Many of them enter 4th grade below level, but they begin to blossom and flourish when presented with new ideas and enthusiasm!
They need new books in our class library that will excite and engage them!
I often tell them the more they read, the better they will be at spelling and writing too! Our school books are pretty old. I have a cozy reading area they will utilize to stretch out, read, and let their imagination soar!
The games I am wanting will do the same; we will use them in centers to make vocabulary interesting and easy!
