My students are an amazing group of 4th graders from a low income, urban area. My students face some unique challenges because of their situations and I want to provide them with the supplies and experiences necessary for them to be successful in school and the greater community.
This year, my students will be artists, musicians, scientists, mathematicians, readers, authors, sociologists, and so much more.
It is so important for them to have what they need to be successful. Our district has some very lofty and very achievable goals if students are just given the space, the time, and the materials. With your help, I can see that my students are prepared for the path they choose.
My Project
Over the past ten years, my students have been fortunate enough to have the use of their own Chromebook in our classroom. Unfortunately, many of these computers are now so old they will no longer receive updates. They are also experiencing many functionality issues both because of the lack of updates and the 10 years of wear and tear by the excited hands of young learners.
Through your generous donations, we will be able to replace about half of our computers in order to continue the work my 21st century learners need.
Students use these computers for so many amazing things. In just a week's time, students will use them to read texts, write stories and essays, watch videos to reinforce math skills, play math games, learn to code, talk to students or experts in other towns, states, or even countries, and so much more. With new, functioning, update receiving computers we can continue this amazing work.
These are more than just screens that sit in front of kids — these are tools that open the world up for my learners. Please consider helping me to prepare my scholars for the future they choose!
