Today, students deal with adult issues, daily. What I love about my students is that no matter what they have been through, they come to school with smiles on their faces and often show no signs that things might not be okay. When designing lesson plans, I consider the diverse needs of my students who energize me to think outside of the box. My personal philosophy is that despite their learning disabilities, they can do anything, if they are given the opportunity.
The school year has just begun. I was full of hope and excitement about my lesson plans that I had worked on all summer. Unfortunately, I was very upset to be told that I would not have access to Chromebooks or iPads due to budget cuts. Consequently, I asked any department that had Chromebooks and iPads if they were not using them, if my students could. I was told that they would be using them and unavailable for my students.
We need an iPad.
By funding this project, my students will be able to bridge the gap in their education that keeps them in the wings. My hope is that by having access to technology in our classroom, my students will take center stage and shine.
