This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach 7th grade in a urban school district to an amazing group of hard-working, wonderful students that love learning. I am always striving to give my students the best education possible, and your support helps in obtaining that goal. Thank you for anything you can give, it is greatly appreciated!
My Project
My students and I are thrilled to finally be back in person learning together! I want to use this year to have my students get excited about learning again, especially reading. Reading is so important for so many aspects of not only their academic career, but their lives outside of school. Prior to this school year starting I set the lofty goal of having my students want to read more than they want to be on a screen. I know that this will be tough to accomplish, but the best way for me to have them reach it, is to provide them with books they want to read.
Recently my students asked me for more "Diary of a Wimpy Kid", "Bad Guys" and other Graphic Novels to be in our classroom library.
By providing them with more access to books they enjoy, and by making reading a priority inside our classrooms and at home, I am hoping that I can reach this goal. I greatly appreciate any support you can provide to help us pick up the books and put down the screens!
