The students that I get to educate this year are a very diverse bunch. They come from small neighborhoods where there are not enough activities or engagements to continually show growth on a constant basis. Just like other children, they love to express themselves in many ways, with your help and these items, I will be able to help them not only develop their social skills but enable them to open their minds and learn with confidence. I am excited to see what’s in store.
My Project
Creativity is something that I find essential to any effective classroom. Where I am located, there are not enough opportunities that promote creativity for my students. I want to provide materials that allow for several alternative ways to learn and be successful. A recent academic article states “The creative mindset works best when they build on creative knowledge.” We’re looking for creative ways to enhance our thinking and ways we can hold onto our learning.
My personal favorite from this project is the vibrant rainbow masking tape!
I use this during my math instruction for geometry; the students loved seeing the different shapes and graphs in color. Making this simple change allowed students to become more interested in the topic and take charge of their learning and how they receive it.
We are living in a world where creativity sets the tone for success in many fields today. Why not be ahead of the game and create learning experiences that will last a lifetime and continue to be shared.
