My Students
I have a dynamic kindergarten class that consists of 27 highly energized, curious and active students that need to come to school every day! Our school is located in an area that is economically challenging for many families. All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch. We are a Title I funded school, located in the South side of Los Angeles.
My students work very hard to come to school each day to learn and they look forward to rhythm and movement to make it though the day!
My Project
My kindergarten students will be coming into this first year of school with a lot of energy that lasts all day long. Along with learning their basic skills, they will also need to enhance their rhythm and movement mobility. We desperately need a class CD/ Cassette player to begin this process. Having musical CD's to play, that have everyday songs and themes that they can sing to, will help keep them engaged and less focused on the issues that may keep them sad. My students need to learn constructive and fun ways to move their bodies while singing, dancing and interacting with each other in a positive manner.
Having a happy, well structured and enjoyable class increases student participation and attendance through music and rhythm !
I am also requesting a fabulous bubble machine which will amaze these young learners as we explore the outdoors. The students will learn to move fast to catch the bubbles, stretch their arms, hands and fingers as they inter in the world of "bubble amazement!" My goal is to hear excitement, see kids playing together and increase physical movement as they stretch, run and laugh!
