My Students
My school has a good mix of low and high income students. As an ESL teacher, I'm able to have students from different cultures and backgrounds. Regardless of their backgrounds, my students come in eager to learn about the world around them and especially how they fit into that world. Their favorite question is "When are we going to use this?" I am constantly looking for materials and resources to help them to answer that question. They always have that spark of excitement when they can make that connection.
My Project
We are exploring energy and matter on a molecular level. This is a concept that is really hard to explain for students to understand without having something to look at. While we won't be able to see the individual molecules and atoms that make up the matter around us, my students will be able to get a closer view of the building blocks of life.
Having a set of new microscopes will allow my students to be able to see their world as they've never seen it before.
This grant will provide my students with the opportunity to see the world around them in a new light.
