Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work with a lively group of students with learning difficulties. They struggle to complete academic tasks without lots of repetition and practice. They love when learning becomes a game and they can interact with what they are learning.
My students are filled with a love of life and learning.
They don't let their disabilities hold them back from accomplishing new skills and meeting new goals. They enjoy listening to stories on CD player and on the computer. They have difficulty dealing with the cords on their headphones and are often distracted by the cords.
My Project
My students will use the wireless headphones on the computer and at a listening center. While reading books at the listening center, my students get tangled with each other while trying to listen to stories. These headphones will eliminate the distraction of the cords allowing them to focus on the words of the story and not the cord attached to their headphones.
At the computer, my students like to twirl the cord around their fingers and put the cord in their mouth.
I have lost a few sets of headphones to chewed off cords. These would greatly increase their ability to concentrate and be productive while working on the computer.
