Help me give my students new Sunshine State Young Reader's Books! These books are selected for their wide appeal, literary value, varied genres, curriculum connections, and/or multicultural representation.
My students are curious learners always wanting to dig into something new. My classroom is comprised of high achievers and gifted learners. With this, I have the enjoyable challenge of creating and providing enrichment activities for students to work to achieve their highest potential. Students really thrive with challenges, technology, and projects.
My students love to read and promote books to their peers.
They especially are interested in the Sunshine State Books! The Sunshine State Young Readers Award (SSYRA) Program is a statewide reading motivational program for students in grades 3-8. The purpose of the SSYRA Program is to encourage students to read independently for pleasure and to read books that are on, above, and below their reading level in order to improve their reading fluency. SSYRA books are selected for their wide appeal, literary value, varied genres, curriculum connections, and/or multicultural representation.
Our Elementary School is a public K-5 school located in Florida. Our school serves a wide variety of students coming from different backgrounds including students on free/reduced price lunch, foster children, and students from other countries. Our school is committed to creating a safe and fun learning environment while preparing students to succeed in a global, technology-rich society.
My Project
These Sunshine State books will go right into my classroom library and into my students' hands. With the big hype of SSYRA, many books in the library are often checked out. I hate keeping kids from books when they are begging to read them!
I strive to create a literacy-rich culture and a love of reading in my classroom.
These books will enhance the challenging classroom that I strive to create. My classroom library is a place that my students enjoy. Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and students are thankful for the opportunities to read. All of these books have been chosen with my students and their interests in mind. Students will be able to choose from these books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time.
With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level, or above their grade level. They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in SSYRA books, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
