Our students are resilient, thoughtful and have an endless amount of creative energy. The are kind and compassionate learner who show respect for themselves and each other. Since they travel throughout the school together, they are expected to work collaboratively under difficult situations.
My Project
When using iPads in class, students become teachers and help and encourage each other. Many take great pride in teaching a lesson on how to use an application for a classroom project. For example, one of my students recently shared her love and talent for using Procreate and taught others how to use the application. They make videos to help and support future students, as they transition from elementary to middle school. They interview local veterans to help tell their stories to others. We are currently working on a video about how our school adopted its name. The iPad allows us to collaboratively work on these and other student-initiated projects.
My students find that iPads help them communicate and collaborate through creative and innovative uses of technology.
With all the changes 2020 has brought, one thing remains the same, inconsistency. Students are being asked to relearn everything from how to sit in a classroom socially distanced to being an effective communicator while wearing a mask. All this time, they do not know what their education will look like from day today. We are asking more of our kids than ever before. Now is the time for them to unleash their creative potential.
