My Students
My school sits in the middle of a low-income neighborhood in Florida. Close to 100% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch and about twenty percent of students live in one of the four shelters around our school. Our school does an excellent job of helping those students fit in even though the mobility rate is very high.
I believe every child can achieve the impossible.
My students have big dreams and I try every day to help them get closer to achieving them.
My Project
Universal Studios is an amazing place to visit. Unfortunately, many of my students have never gone and probably will never get to visit such an amazing place. My school is in a very low-income neighborhood, and parents trying to take a family trip to Universal Studios is nearly impossible.
This trip would be a dream come true for my students.
Every year we fundraise to take the 5th graders to Universal Studios, but since a lot of families are still recovering from Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria, that task has been difficult this year. This trip can be a release for those students. Not only will the students enjoy the rides, they will also get to see the work that goes on behind the scenes that make Universal Studios possible. If my students are able to take this trip, we will create memories that will last forever.
