My students come from many different background and speak many different languages. Many of my students are from low income families and have had no prior school experience. All of my 24 students are eager to learn and to be engaged within the classroom. I love teaching kindergarten and watching the amount of growth in each one of my students. When a child realizes they can write and can read, it makes everything worth it. It is something that will last them a lifetime.
My classroom would like to dive into flexible seating! Flexible seating allows students to use a variety of places to sit and work. It gives them ownership and the ability to take charge of their learning. My student's are expected each year to sit for longer amounts of time.
By offering them more unique choices, they will be able stay on task and take ownership of their learning.
I am choosing to start our journey into flexible seating with these wobble stools. I believe these stools will allow us the ability to use them at our classroom tables and move them throughout the room to new spaces as needed.
The ability to move while working on the stools is appealing for my students who have attention and movement needs and need to be able to move their bodies. By allowing them to move in a constructive way, they will be able to focus on their tasks and achieve their learning goals.
