Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a Title I school in Los Angeles, CA. My fourth graders are vibrant, funny, intelligent students. They are passionate about exploring the world around them and have aspirations to graduate from high school and go on to four-year colleges and universities.
My school has recently been pursuing an engineering focus in an effort to have students practice perseverance and working through challenges.
It has changed these students into scholars that approach obstacles with grit and determination.
These learners are unique in their learning styles and preferences. My goal is to teach them concepts in multiple ways to best access their learning potential! This includes incorporating movement and art into everyday lessons.
My Project
Studies show that people learn best in a vast range of ways. Teachers cannot simply assume that all students will be successful by listening to a lecture for long periods of time. My fourth graders are as special and unique as they come! They need learning tools that go above and beyond what is normally provided to public school teachers for instruction.
By donating to our project, you will be helping all of these learners have better access to the information and material they need in order to be successful in the fourth grade, and beyond!
My project is all about making learning fun, and accessible. We will be creating, building, and trying new things this year. I will be incorporating more flexible seating options so students will have a choice in how they work and learn most comfortably. We will become engineers with new building activities provided by this project. We will be artists throughout the many months of fourth grades as we get our hands dirty and try new mediums. These fourth graders will love learning with our new tools and will be excited to arrive each and every day!
