Help me give my students a better way for me to communicate with them during these times of remote learning with a new proficiently performing Hp Envy laptop.
We are a school of about 300 students, all living within a planned HUD community. We are a culturally diverse community composed of a school population with more than 20 different cultures and languages spoken. Of those 300 students, approximately 85 of them are English language learners.
We are a Title I school, where 100% of our students qualify for the free or reduced-price lunch program.
The majority of our students are living in what is considered to be "extreme poverty," but most of them are not even aware of it. Because of financial burdens, our students typically do not have the opportunities for experiences outside of their small community. We have a large population of students from different cultures who are just beginning to learn English or are continuing to learn academic English.
My Project
This new laptop will enable me to effectively and efficiently communicate with students in real time during our upcoming remote learning term. During the spring when we began remote learning we had a very difficult time with our online platforms keeping in touch with students without interruption. I was using a small and less powerful Chromebook that made it very challenging to work with multiple students via video chatting. The Chromebook often disconnected and it was difficult to see multiple students through video google meets on an 11 inch screen.
A new lap top with a faster processor and larger screen will allow me to effectively use our remote learning platforms as they were intended.
The students in our community already face many burdens and hardships...being able to communicate with their teacher during remote learning, which could last into the next calendar year should not be another one. Thanks so much for your support!
