Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a teacher of 6th-8th grade students. All of my students are diverse learners. They have special needs ranging from mild learning disabilities to social/emotional difficulties. I teach math, science, and writing. My kids are from a working class, low-income area. We are a very family-oriented school and have great family involvement.
My kids benefit greatly from the enrichment that extra materials provide in the classroom.
We can grow in our learning if we just have the materials that we need.
My Project
Each and every school year many of my students begin their school year wearing old hand-me down uniform shirts and pants from a sibling or neighbor. While other students have brand new shirts and pants to start the school year in a fresh way. I am writing this grant to help ensured all my students have new shirt and pants for the new school year. In addition my students need uniform approved jackets to wear in classroom when it is cooler weather. A student who feels excited about their cloths is often more motivated to learn. Motivated learners make better students!
