Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher of a low income/high poverty school with students coming from all around the world, my students face many challenges both inside and outside the classroom. Despite these challenges they come to school excited and wanting to learn.
They are smart, creative, loving, funny and courageous all with different personalities and cultural experiences.
Many of them are being raised in single parent households and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. As their teacher I try to support them with the positive reinforcement and sense of safety they need to strive. Unfortunately, many of my students can not afford field trips to enhance their knowledge of the world outside their own neighbor. While I may not be able to prevent their needs outside the classroom, I can give them experiences within the school day. My goal is to give these students background knowledge and resources they need to become successful adults.
My Project
Students will be given the opportunity to experience the world outside of their own neighborhoods. Recently, we have been learning bout life cycles and habitats.
This is a chance for our students to explore and learn about life under the sea.
Students will be taking an underwater 3D adventure, narrated by Jim Carry to some of the most exotic and isolated undersea locations on earth. This will allow the students to experience some of the most mysterious and stunning creatures of the sea. The documentary will also be teaching students about: Interdependent Relationships in Ecosystems: Animals, Plants, and Their Environment, Interdependent Relationships in Ecosystems, Inheritance and Variation of Traits: Life Cycles and Traits, Earth’s Systems: Processes that Shape the Earth, Matter and Energy in Organisms and Ecosystems.
We are looking forward to seeing them smile and ready to learn! We thank you for your support!
