Understandings of Historical Proportions

My students need supplies to help show real time understanding in a classroom setting We need markers, pencils and more.

My Students

Like most high school students, my students are full of excitement. The traditional book-and-notes style of teaching can be difficult to hold their attention. The student populous is extremely diverse, from a large array of cultural backgrounds. With many students being on IEPs or English Language learners, the use of manipulative are key to help with understanding.

Although they do struggle with traditional old-school teaching, they truly excel when they have a chance to experience history.

The hands-on approach aids in understanding in a major way, and, as soon as my students sink their teeth into something, it catches on like wildfire. I have brought in some of my personal artifacts, and it is unfortunate that I didn't have more for the students to experience. Instead of typical resistance, my students have been able to see history differently.

My Project

Students learn best when it is a cooperation and communication between the teacher and themselves. This cooperation and communication come from real time in classroom interaction. Teachers have many tools in their tool box from exit tickets to technological resources such as pollev. Many of these wantonly use natural resources or can be distracting when depending on the students personal devices to access technology.

The power of writing down an answer creates ownership as well as engagement.

My students would greatly benefit from the addition of personal whiteboards to my classroom.

Overall dry erase technology is a great way to allow your students to show understanding with out needed rechargeable devices, students personal devices, tons of wires, and simply the high expense of electronics. Dry erase is a great way to engage students and create cooperative feedback and communication.
