Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach at a low-income school where we work with students in kindergarten through 5th grade.
A large percentage of our students qualify to receive free or reduced lunch. We also have a large population of English language learners at our school. These are some of the greatest kids I have ever worked with. They often need lots of love as they come to us from an array of challenging environments.
My Project
My students need books and activities that relate to social emotional learning. Our classroom library is lacking books on topics dealing with emotions and growth mindset. Especially, during these trying times where students can experience an array of emotions at a given time, it is important to have these resources for them.
Often time, students struggle to appropriately express their emotions, because they simply don't know how.
My hope is that through literature, students can learn to express how they feel in an appropriate manner. I hope to teach them self regulating skills that will help them when they are experiencing difficulties throughout the day.
