My students are what makes every day interesting and exciting. My second graders attend a Title I public school in a small rural town. My class family consists of 25 unique individuals. The majority of our students come from low-income households and qualify for free or reduced rate lunch. We are located two hours from any major city in a small rural town nestled in the mountains of North Carolina.
Every child is unique and learns differently and a goal of mine is to reach and teach to foster that uniqueness.
Gaining confidence, showing an eagerness to learn, feeling a sense of accomplishment and pride, knowing they are loved and secure within our 'home away from home' is vital to our classroom community. Watching them grow academically, socially, and showing kindness to one another and others excite me. These students are what it's all about!
My Project
These literacy materials, Vocabulary Skills Activity Center, Comprehension Game, along with age appropriate quality picture books will be great hands-on learning for my students to build and practice literacy skills. The variety of materials will provide activities for students to do independently, with a partner, in a small group, and at a teacher-led center. These materials will not only contribute in the building of much needed foundational skills, but they will also push them academically and encourage deep critical thinking skills. These resources will give them highly engaging exposure to several reading standards such as comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, and phonics.
These donations will greatly improve my classroom by providing differentiated, hands-on, and engaging literacy resources to all my students.
