This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
How much does a gallon hold? What is the difference between a yard and a meter? Imagine trying to learn about capacity while learning English.
I teach an amazing group of third grade students.
They are all English Language Learners. My students are proud to come to school and work hard. They are determined to learn English and be successful in third grade. My students thoroughly enjoy learning!
My Project
These materials will be used to support our measurement units- length, capacity, weight, area, perimeter and time. To better understand capacity, the students need to hold objects that teach them the difference between a cup and a quart. The math centers allow students to work independently. Students work alone or in small groups at each of the math centers. Each math center reinforces concepts learned in math class. The math games will allow students to apply what they learned in class to real world problems.
This project will help third grade students better understand measurement and support them in learning English.
The materials will be used throughout the school year by all students in my class.
