My students will be entering high school for the first time and walking into a carpentry program that is just getting off the ground. Many may be surprised as they are also greeted by a non-traditional teacher that was also their former middle school teacher! They will be anxious, excited, and ready to learn the hands on skills that the carpentry program will have to offer.
My Project
My journey as a teacher has taken many paths. For over twenty years, I poured my heart and soul into middle school students with special needs. For the past two years, I have continued to pour into middle school students as I taught seventh grade science. For the upcoming school year, I will be blessed to combine my passion for woodwork with my passion for teaching as I start teaching the carpentry program at our local career tech center.
Students walking into the carpentry classroom should be greeted by an atmosphere of hands-on learning.
In order to jump start that atmosphere, new seating is a must! Students need sturdy workbenches that will adjust in height, move around the classroom easily, and also function as their desk area. These workbenches will be multi-functional, give the room a fresh, updated feel, and give them an uncluttered work space. I hope you will consider joining us as our classroom goes under construction!
