I teach three blocks of sixth grade English to a curious and creative bunch. They love to read, debate, and figure out new things. Puzzles and Brain Teasers are popular activities in my classroom. These students LOVE a good challenge!
My students are outside of the box thinkers.
They thrive with hands-on projects that challenge them and engage their brains. They are full of questions, comments, and ideas. Their potential is infinite, and I love teaching them how to unlock their potential.
My Project
I am a first-year teacher and I am quickly learning that sixth graders are squirrelly and need a way to release energy! I was gifted 10 lap desks, and the ability to sit on the floor and work has been a game changer for my students. Very few of my students work well in their desk and need a variety of options to stay focused. Ball chairs, stools, and seat cushions will provide the variety they need.
Hyper students can create a distraction unless given an outlet.
Fidgets and seat bands will allow a quiet and discreet distraction for all of my students. I have 10 fidgets in my room that I rotate through students. They help every student in the room stay on task! I would love to have enough for all of my students.
