My Students

I teach ages 13-18 year old students. Our public charter school located on the east side of St. Paul, MN. Our school is committed to developing productive future citizens through academic rigor and building character in partnership with parents and the community. Our students are focused on creating a bright future and are currently leaders in the community, even presenting at town hall meetings.

As a class we try to relate government and economics to everyday life and for students to take ownership of their learning.

I teach mostly 11th grade students so they are really engaged with important things to know after high school. My goal as a social studies teacher is to engage and challenge students to critically think about the past to encourage them to change their future.

My Project

This mailbox will allow my students to be more accountable for their assignments and help me effectively give corrected work back. Students will be able to learn from each assignment and that will build their learning for the rest of the year. The reason I'm asking for four is so that each student has their own personal cubby and I'm hoping it will give them more ownership of their learning.

My vision would be for students to be able to use their cubby for a more personalized learning experience.

I envision that they would check their cubby whenever I get done grading an assignment. It would also be fantastic for easily putting missing work for each student. Overall I hope that it gives them better organization and a more personalized learning experience.
