Help me give my students ukulele cases and a tuner to become self-sufficient in both school and home practice!
This project expired on January 13, 2019.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
Our students come from varied cultural, educational, and economic backgrounds. Most are novice musicians, with a few currently taking private lessons in piano and violin. They are all eager to learn both vocal and instrumental music.
Our school is small, but there is a sense of community and family.
They have grown up together through the school, and have built the sense of pride within themselves and the community. They are keen to learn about their state and country. The ukulele group opens their experiences to world music they may not hear otherwise.
Last year we were very fortunate to be funded for another set of ukuleles so we could expand our group. This year my group will be using every available instrument, and half of them are without cases. I cannot send them home with students for at-home practice without these protective cases.
I would love to be able to encourage independence in my performers.
Being able to take instruments home to practice puts their pace of advancement squarely in their own hands. The Korg tuner will help me teach them to tune their own ukuleles. By doing this, we will spend far less time tuning, and more time actually rehearsing!
This is an eager group of students, and I am excited to foster their learning!
