My students are some of the most enthusiastic and determined young people. Our hometown has a rich musical heritage thanks to our location in the Appalachian foothills. We are a diverse school community with regards to interests, hobbies, beliefs, and music preferences. Many love to sing, but many more are eager to play instruments.
We are in need of several ukuleles for our music classroom.
Because of donors like you, we can impact more than 200 students with the gift of instrumental music.
Ukuleles are known as the small guitar-like instruments from Hawaii. These instruments are the perfect size for younger students. Instrumental music instruction provides a sense of achievement and builds one's confidence.
Students can expect to grow socially and emotionally, not just as young music readers and performers.
Instruments are known to relieve stress and facilitate a sense of community among individuals playing music at the same time.
With your help, we can bring an instrument to students that, seems to have more real-life connections than the traditional recorder or song flute. My hope is that this project will inspire students to continue with instrumental music beyond 5th grade.
