My students need music method books with CD and a set of 30 instruments that match their exuberance for life! The ukulele is so fun and easy to learn, and it is used very often in popular music.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students at my school are from primarily low income households surrounding our school's neighborhood. Many of these students do not get the chance to learn a musical instrument outside of school because of financial constraints.
My students are so energetic, enthusiastic, and joyful, and they deserve a set of musical instruments that matches these wonderful attributes.
Learning a musical instrument not only improves self-esteem and core subject performance, it also gives children an education in work ethic, team work, and perseverance. These attributes will help my students continue their success well into middle school, high school, and beyond.
My Project
The fifth grade students in my school need a class set of ukuleles, method and song books to augment their general music curriculum. Learning concepts such as rhythm, pitch, and musicality becomes so much more fun when they are learning with a musical instrument.
My students will learn not only musical concepts through the ukulele, but team work, perseverance, and work ethic as well.
The ukulele will provide for my students an opportunity to explore their creativity, emotions, and sense of self. For many of my students, this may set them down a path of lifetime musicianship. Children that play a musical instrument in middle and high school have higher rates of graduation, and attend college at higher rates. For students that come from disadvantaged backgrounds, these ukuleles can absolutely change their lives.
