My Project

Learning to play an instrument provides enormous benefits for psychological, and intellectual development. In the aftermath of COVID all students need these benefits more than ever. As we strive to recover from stress, of long term school closures, we know these ukuleles will help provide a tool to overcome the negative impact it has had on the social, emotional and educational well-being of our students.

Our school strives to reach all students, but we are known for providing an environment that supports all learners, especially those who may not thrive in a more traditional learning environment.

Music education, specifically learning instruments meets the needs of our traditional and non-traditional learners alike. Learning an instrument is a non-traditional way to, " help kids with reading and processing language. This is because kids who learn to play an instrument are able to process sounds that they could not hear if they did not play an instrument, also called neurophysiological distinction. This is an example of how playing music can actually make kids academically smarter and better communicators. Smart kids are happier, have higher self-esteem and self-efficacy, and are generally more confident."
