My students love to play with and experience a variety of instruments in the music classroom. With recorders, classroom percussion instruments, xylophones, boomwhackers and their band and orchestra instruments, my students have many opportunities to create and perform music.
The music room is a place for everyone to be themselves and share music together.
Students visit the music room once a week to share the gift of music with their classmates. They perform in concerts, town meetings, and other music events throughout the year where they share their talents with the whole school, families and the community.
My Project
My 4-6 grade students will have the opportunity to learn how to play the ukulele. The ukulele will be a wonderful addition to the music room and the music program at our school, continuing the music literacy work started on recorders and other instruments!
Before we are able to explore the world of ukulele we need to get some into the building.
Having a classroom set of Ukuleles would enable our students to be exposed to the instrument and expand on their musical skills.
It is important to offer music-making opportunities, on a variety of instruments, to help students experience music and be successful. I look forward to exploring all the ways we can use them in our school community.
