I work in a suburban school setting with a growing ELL population. My students bring with them a wide range of interests, including music. Music and mathematics is a natural fit and universal language.
Many of the students I work with have learning styles that need an outlet.
Music and arts is the way to reach them.
We have established after school clubs before but not in the area of music. I would love to offer them a chance to learn a new instrument and build their confidence as they play it. Thank you!
Music is a universal language. The ability to read notes and transfer that to an instrument where melodic songs emerge is a gift, one I would love to give to my students and the other students in my school with a Ukulele Club.
Learning is not always what comes out of a textbook but what is experienced first hand by students.
Nothing is more valuable than the look of a student that has just achieved something they are proud of.
Providing the students with this instrument in a club setting will allow them to explore music, connect with others and express themselves through creativity.
