Artistic, brilliant, and caring - these are the 'ABCs' of my students. They may not have the best situations waiting for them when they leave school, but when they're here, they are always practicing their 'ABCs.'
Most of the students from my school receive free or reduced price lunches as part of the Title 1 program.
Because of this, our school offers many free after-school and before-school activities for the students. My fellow educators here realize the importance of a well-rounded education that emphasizes creativity and leadership.
My Project
The school where I teach has a giant amount of love for fine arts, but not the budget for it. As we begin transitioning our campus into a fine arts integrated campus, which is a campus that uses the arts to teach classroom concepts, the ukuleles could help to teach the students not only how to be great musicians, but how science and physics tie into music!
With the right materials and support, only good things can come.
Fine arts integrated campuses have proven to help students with both retention and attendance. Therefore, I believe that these ukuleles in my classroom will be vital in growing the fine arts integration model and improving my students' quality of education.
