Our school is based in a rural community with about 100 students per grade level. We have amazing students at our school that come in every day eager and excited to learn! We have music class once per week, and our band program begins in 4th grade.
The kids at my elementary school deserve to experience amazing things!
In our school, we have general music and band. No string instruments are available for students. This would be a huge benefit to those wishing to learn how to play a stringed instrument.
My Project
Next year I would like to begin a new club in our school for students in 4th - 6th grade. They will have the opportunity to learn how to play the ukulele. This is a great instrument for students in this age range to learn to play, and serves as a great introduction instrument for guitar, or any instrument!
Students will learn how to play their favorite songs on the ukulele.
No stringed instruments are currently available for students to learn in our school. Having these instruments would make a huge impact on student learning!
My hope is we would be able to meet at least once per week and learn the history of the Ukulele, traditional songs that are played on this instrument, how it relates to the guitar, and a lot of fun songs! This will help to grow our music program tremendously. The students will be able to practice singing, reading music and tablature, and of course, learn how to play a new instrument!
