My Students
Our K-5th grade music class is focused on hands-on and engaging singing, movement, and instrumental performance to make learning music exciting! I teach music to energetic young minds with up to 38 students per class. We are located in a low-income community, and most of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch.
Though many of these kiddos come from a rough home, their spirit is not extinguished.
These students have had many music teachers in the past, and are in need of someone to invest in them; I have promised them to be that teacher.
I am so thankful to have the opportunity to work with these music lovin' students.
My Project
All of the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students would have an opportunity to make beautiful music in the classroom as they learn to apply their knowledge in a hands-on way with the ukulele! We would be able to learn chords, play individually, and even work on group performances for our community.
Giving low-income students access to new experiences in the music classroom is an investment in their future.
With your help, students will be able to perform on instruments instead of just learning their names and watching video clips of performers. This project would benefit a large number of students and bring so much joy, especially to those students who cannot afford their own musical instrument.
We would like to complete our half of a class set to guarantee each student a longer chance to play the instruments in each class period.
