My Students

Our students come from a small rural town in the heart of Iowa. Students in this area come from hard working families and are part of a large farming community.

They have a desire to learn and grow in various areas of school.

They are involved in numerous extra-curricular areas and many also hold part-time jobs.

More than a third of our students come from low-income households and have a limited experience seeing the world outside of our small community.

My Project

Spend 30 minutes in a 5th and 6th grade music class and you will realize that it's a "tough" audience.

My goal is to make music fun for each students and allow them to explore in various ways.

With your help, we can give them an appreciation for different genres of music. By playing ukuleles, we can open up a whole new world for these students. Maybe we have the next Jimi Hendrix or Eric Clapton?? I'm hopeful that this will "spark" something inside of them and help us all grow musically. This will be enough for half of my class and that would be AWESOME!
