Our student are sweet and love to learn! We teach at a high needs Title I school in Oregon. We have students that come from varying households, including several that are homeless. We have diverse classrooms full of active, intelligent, and behavioral needs. Most of our student are learning English as a second language. Although they face so many challenges, they always come to school happy and excited to learn so we want to support them the best we can!
Ukuleles give our 3-5th graders opportunity to show growth as musicians while learning songs we are preparing for programs. Currently there are not enough Ukes for every student to be able to have one to practice with the whole class. Drumsticks will do the same for rhythm learning via bucket drumming instruction.
By donating to this project you will help enhance the students' ability to become more independent and confident musicians.
These additional materials will help keep students better engaged during ukulele and druming times as all of them will have the materials needed, instead of relying on always taking turns.
