There are two different music classrooms in our city. Our lower elementary music classroom serves 391 students while our upper elementary music classroom serves 437 students. Our students are always ready to enter music with excitement about creating music through singing, playing instruments, dancing, composing, and rehearsing for their upcoming performances.
Our music classes not only help students learn basic music concepts but gives them confidence to uncover their special talents and encourages them connect with others through music.
It has been so rewarding to see students come out of their shells who hardly talk sing the leading solos in our performances!
My Project
Ukuleles are becoming a popular instrument taught in elementary music classrooms. The three ukuleles that will be in our music class will be enjoyable for our students but will not be enough for our large classes of at least 23 - 25 students. With additional ukuleles to play, our students' progress of learning a string instrument will be greatly increased.
These ukuleles will provide not only wonderful classroom opportunities but will also be used in our enrichment classes during and after school.
We will introduce our kindergarten students to the basics including strumming to various rhythms. As our students grow older, they will learn chords and songs.
