Students at my school love and are very involved in music class. I teach all the students in my building in grades K-5, a little over 500 students in total. Students come to me once a week in grades K, 1, 2 and %, and twice a week in 3rd and 4th grade.
Our school is located in a very fast growing school district in Ohio.
Because of this growth, there is a need for classroom materials and instruments. Sometimes classes come as a whole class, and sometimes they come as a class and part of another. We also have two traveling music teachers at my building to accommodate seeing all students, and we share instruments.
Our kids love learning, are inquisitive and passionate about music and music instruction, and all students at our school learn to read and write music through singing games, playing instruments, dancing, composing, improvising and creating.
Students will need ukulele picks to play their instruments. It will give them different strumming options. Students will be able to use the Essential Elements books in class to learn, and I will use the tuner to assist with tuning the instruments. The books, picks and tuner will all be able to be used every year going forward with each class of students as they enter fifth grade, benefiting our entire building population. All kids will use these resources in music class to jam out!
