My Students

I am a music teacher in Roscoe, Illinois. I teach nearly 300 students in 4th and 5th grade. All students participate in general music classes. I also teach band and chorus to those students who want to expand their musical activities!

These students are eager to learn and excited about music!

This time away from our music room has not been easy on my students who thrive in our musical environment. I can't wait to see all of my students again and start making music! Providing my students with the opportunity to learn ukulele will give them a meaningful and fun way to experience music that they have never had in the past. This project will impact the lives of hundreds of students in our district now and for years to come!

I strive to give my students a strong foundation in their music skills so that they can become independent musicians. I teach my students that music is an essential part of their education and can bring joy to our lives and the lives of those around us. Students in my classroom experience all kinds of music from many different cultures. We also use instruments, sing, and dance!

My Project

My 4th and 5th grade musicians are excited to learn and love new challenges! By incorporating ukuleles into our music curriculum, students will have the opportunity to learn and perform music in a different way. Ukuleles will teach my students note reading, rhythm reading, and build fine motor skills. Not only are these ukuleles quality instruments that will last many years, they are also very easy to clean and sanitize, which is vitally important in our current climate. My music students will be blown away by the opportunity to play ukuleles. After the current challenges we have endured, music will hold an extra special place in my students' lives!
