My Students

Each day I have students walk into my classroom from all walks of life and yet they all have the same thirst for knowledge and compassion. In my classroom, that is exactly what they get. These students have defeated the odds. Some encounter hardships that some people may never experience.

Music may be their only solace.

I am truly grateful when students come to me and say "Thank you for teaching me music today." My students light up my day and I hope that I do the same for them. They are a blessing.

My Project

Ukuleles are an amazing musical tool. They are incredibly versatile string instruments that are sized perfect for young musicians. It is great for learning chords as well as other music theory elements. It can also help aid composition and improvisation activities.

Singing and accompanying themselves on the ukulele helps them to be independent and confident musicians.

Once I have an entire class set, my students can perform together as a class growing a sense of cooperation and teamwork. This is an idea that can expand outside of the classroom and into an extracurricular setting. A potential ukulele club would enhance the feeling of community by gathering together to make music for the purpose of sharing it with others.
