Uke' Can Do It!: Ukuleles for Elementary Music (part 3)
My students need ukuleles to begin learning to play a string instrument.
This project expired on June 19, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
I work in a high poverty school in rural southern Illinois. My students are faced with many challenges inside and outside of school. Our school is literally in the middle of a cornfield, so opportunities outside of the community are limited. My students are eager learners, but they have little means of getting the materials necessary to be successful.
Continuing to add to the music program is essential to its sustainability and success.
It brings me so much joy to be able to share the love of music with children every day!
There is not much I enjoy more than making music with my students.
Learning to play the ukulele will enhance my music classes by introducing the string family of instruments to my students.
I can not think of a better way to add to our music repertoire! We can play boomwhackers, recorders, percussion, some wind instruments, but have not yet attempted strings! My students would be thrilled to receive ukuleles, and their understanding of music and it’s role in humanity would be broadened 10 fold!
Please consider making my classroom the most fun place on Earth for my students to be!
