Our students are from a small rural community ten miles from the state capital. They are a motivated group of young learners who love all different types of subjects and work hard to stay on task and be respectful to themselves and others.
Each of these students is also a mentor and a cheerleader for the other students in the class.
They respect their school, teachers, and each other. They are a great team and make our staff proud everyday.
Our 6th graders have mini iPads as their devices. They must do all their typing on these machines. It can be awkward and difficult to do so without a keyboard. We had keyboards at one time, but the wires have become broken, leaving the students to depend upon the screen keyboard.
The students are slowed down by the lack of this technology, and I don't want anything holding them back!
Having keyboards allows them to type faster and gives them the opportunity to spend less time about the mechanics of the technology and more time to spend creating writing.
Also when it comes to state testing, they will be on a level playing field with students who have this type of technology.
